Play All Day at Our Pet Daycare In Wilmington, NC

Exercise and socialization are some of the keys to a happy and healthy canine companion. The Diggs offers your dog a chance to run, play, and socialize with others during our doggy daycare. There are two to three play groups during our pet daycare: Small Play Group (includes small breed dogs and small pups), Medium Play Group (if our daycare is large enough to be spilt into 3 groups; includes high energy small dogs and puppies, and calm-tempered medium/larger breed dogs), and Large Play Group (includes large/medium breed dogs and high energy larger breed puppies). Group placement for dogs will be determined by the staff based on Temperament Assessments and the other individuals in that day’s play groups.

Our Wilmington, NC facility has both indoor and outdoor play spaces for each group, all equipped with quiet-time spaces should your dog need a break or time to relax without interruption. Our outdoor play yards are surfaced with porous yet dense turf to not only keep your pet dirt-free, but to also allow for thorough cleaning of waste and daily disinfecting. Adequate shade, wading and soaking pools, and of course drinking water are always available for every dog while outside. Our indoor space is climate-controlled with ceiling fans for air movement. The rubber padded floor provides a non-abrasive, comfortable play surface and is sealed for sanitary maintenance.

Please be sure to read our policies regarding your dog and his or her playtime located at the end of this page.

Staff will utilize Temperament Assessments to place your pet into the appropriate play group for his or her age, size, temperament, and energy level. We welcome your pet to visit our facility for a Temperament Assessment and experience play time for themselves before you drop them off for a full or half day of doggy daycare. This temperament assessment is free and typically lasts a total of three hours. Temperament Assessments must be scheduled with our client services team.

Please don’t hesitate to ask our staff what daycare entails and discuss how your dog might fit in. We know there’s uncertainty about leaving your dog with strangers for the day, but we will do everything we can to earn your trust and keep your pet comfortable and safe. Contact us with any questions!

Daycare Policies

Required Vaccines to be our guest:

  • Current on Rabies, DA2PP (Distemper/Parvo), Bordetella, Canine Influenza Vaccine (CIV), and proof of a negative Fecal Exam.
  • For Bordetella, if injectable was given, it must have been given within 6 months, or if oral or intranasal was given, it must have been within 1 year.
  • For Bordetella that is given via intranasal, the wait time to board/play is only 3 days.
  • A trivalent Bordetella (bordetella/parainfluenza/adenovirus) is recommended for increased protection of kennel cough.
  • The Leptospirosis vaccine is not required for all dogs in our care, but it is strongly encouraged for those at risk.

Other Policies:

  • Dogs with oral papillomatosis cannot be admitted for group play, as this is a contagious virus.
  • Dogs who are coughing, experiencing diarrhea, or showing other signs of potentially contagious diseases will not be admitted to play or will be removed from play.
  • We have a strict policy regarding young dogs who have not yet been spayed or neutered. Until the age of 6 months , puppies are welcome for group play, however, during the months of reaching sexual maturity before being spayed or neutered, they cannot join group play. It is during this time that hormonal changes are taking place which could alter the amicable nature of your dog in an unpredictable fashion. This doesn’t make them bad, but it does increase the chance that something undesirable happens such as a fight or unwanted breeding.
  • We encourage all dogs coming for daycare to be up to date on flea and tick control. If fleas are identified on your dog during daycare, we will treat with a Capstar at the owner’s expense.
  • Dogs MUST pass a temperament assessment prior to being introduced to daycare at our facility. Please contact our client services team in order to schedule an assessment.
  • We have no breed restrictions.
